Covington man pleads guilty to 2009 vehicular death

A Covington man pleaded guilty today for accidentally killing a 6-year-old refugee from Nepal when he struck her with his SUV in August 2009.

Gregory Armwood was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a 12-month probation after pleading guilty to the second-degree vehicular homicide charge.

The accident occurred on East Ponce De Leon Avenue in Clarkston when Armwood illegally passed a stopped MARTA bus at the same time that Suk Maya Monger and her mother Rupa were walking in front of the bus to cross the street.

Hey, it's an immigrant kid. It's not like he killed a dog or something--that apparently gets you two years in jail (as it should). <snark>
