Police searching for suspect in Stone Mountain bank robbery

DeKalb County police are searching for a man who robbed a Stone Mountain bank on Aug. 17.

The man walked into the Wachovia bank at 4798 Redan Road and passed a note to the teller saying he was armed and demanding cash at 12:51 p.m., said Jason Gagnon, police spokesman.

The teller gave the man an undetermined amount of money, and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction, according to a police statement. Police are searching for a slender Black man about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was wearing a light-colored, button-down shirt and a black baseball cap. He appeared to be in his early 20s and has low-cut facial hair, the police statement stated.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the department’s Major Felony Unit at (770) 724-7850.
