Local Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority chapters to host presidential debate viewing, forum

The DeKalb County and Stone Mountain-Lithonia chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., will host a live viewing of the second presidential debate of 2012 between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

The event will take place on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Stonecrest Library Auditorium, 3123 Klondike Road, Lithonia.

Following the debate viewing, an open forum panel discussion on domestic and foreign policy will held.

The panel discussion will be moderated by the president of the DeKalb County League of Women Voters and expected panelists include Vernon Jones, former CEO of DeKalb County, and Alan Essig, executive director of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute.

A question-and-answer session on jobs, economic development, taxes and healthcare will follow the panel discussion.
