DeKalb’s 2012 senior ball needs sponsors

Due to an overwhelming response, the 2012 Senior Ball, scheduled for June 23 at the Georgia World Congress Center, has reached its capacity.

“Our phone lines have been flooded with seniors from across the county wanting to participate in the 2012 Senior Ball,” said District Attorney Robert James. “Now, we are seeking additional community partnerships so we can possibly reopen our registration to even more seniors.”

The black tie event, organized by James and Commissioner Lee May, begins at 5 p.m. with a Senior Expo that will feature an interactive session led by James to educate attendees about precautions seniors can take to minimize theft, crime, abuse and exploitation.

The Senior Ball is a formal affair for DeKalb residents ages 60 and older. The event begins with a comprehensive resource and information fair 5 - 6 p.m. and continues with an interactive safety program.

To serve as a sponsor for this event, contact Erik Burton at ehburton@dekalbcountyga.gov. To serve as a vendor for the expo, contact Angel Riley at aariley@dekalbcountyga.gov.
