Community meeting in Lithonia on Feb. 9 to discuss proposed compost facility
The proposed building of an environmental composting facility is the topic of a community meeting Feb. 9, 5:30 p.m., at Rock Chapel Elementary School in Lithonia.
Greenco Environmental, which was ordered to shut down its operation in Lamar County, is considering a move to the Lafarge Rock Quarry near Rogers Lake.
Commissioner Lee May is scheduled to attend the meeting at the school, which is located at 1130 Rock Chapel Road in Lithonia.
Dunwoody community council meeting for Feb. 9 cancelled
A Dunwoody Community Council meeting scheduled for Feb. 9 at 41 Perimeter Center East has been cancelled.
The council serves as a recommending board to the Planning Commission and the City Council. Its main function is to provide the public additional opportunity to review rezoning requests, special land use permit requests, and code text amendments.

Interactive defense website training in Clarkston
The city of Clarkston will host a training session Feb. 11 to teach residents how to use its new police department website.
The training session will be held at 10 a.m. in the Clarkston City Hall courtroom. Website staff will be available to answer questions, and residents are encouraged to bring their laptop computers.
DeKalb Schools hosts public forum on technology
The DeKalb County School System will host a public forum Feb. 15 to seek community input concerning the school system’s updated plan to implement technology.
The purpose of the plan is to determine what technology needs there are in the school system and the best way to fulfill those needs. The system is inviting all stakeholders to take an active role in these discussions.
The first community meeting is 7-8 p.m., Feb. 15, at the DeKalb County School System Administrative and Instructional Complex auditorium at 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd., Stone Mountain.
