A 23-year-old Sandy Springs man was arrested Jan. 30 for the theft of a Maltese puppy valued at $1,800 from a pet store in Dunwoody, according to the Dunwoody Police Department.
Timothy Cadarral Cannon was arrested by the Atlanta Police Department and charged with larceny/shoplifting. He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail.
The theft happened Jan. 22 at the Petland at 4733 Ashford Dunwoody Road. Cannon walked into the store and told the clerk he was going to buy the puppy. When the clerk turned away, Cannon ran out of the store with the dog and into an awaiting car, according to police. Cannon dropped his cell phone during the incident, police said.
An unidentified man returned the dog to the store on Jan. 28, according to police.
