Lithonia man to be arraigned in stabbing incident

A Lithonia man accused in the stabbing deaths of three relatives is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Feb 3, at 9 a.m. in Judge Tangela Barrie’s courtroom.

Eugene Quatron McCoy, 21, was charged in April 2011 with three counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault and remains in the DeKalb County Jail.

McCoy stabbed his mother, Shelia Irons, his step-sister Chastity McPherson, 11, and his 8-year-old step-brother Zion McPherson, all of whom died following the attacks, according to the DeKalb County district attorney’s office.  Candice McCoy, 17, Eugene McCoy’s sister, also was stabbed, but was able to escape to a neighbor’s home and survived the attack.

The stabbings were “prompted by some sort of dispute,” according to police.
