Funeral announced for son of Derwin Brown

Funeral services for Anthony Maurice Douglas, 36, of Stone Mountain will be Saturday, Jan. 14, at noon at Big Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia. He was the son of DeKalb County sheriff-elect Derwin Brown, who was gunned down in December 2000, days before he was to have been sworn in as sheriff.
“He was such a loving, giving person with a contagious smile,” said Douglas’ sister Brandy Brown Rhodes. “He was always volunteering in the community.”
Douglas died suddenly on Jan. 6. He is survived by a son and a daughter.
