Folks, don't you realize this is modern day "Old Testament" at its best? When you read the Old Testament, scandals like these happened all the time. Think about David and Bethshema and after being obedient to God in building an ark Noah became a drunk. The stories are countless and they are real. So stop acting like this is so "unthinkable." Please understand me, I am not condoning the allegations against Bishop Eddie Long and will go so far as to say I believe they are true, however just like the saints of old, God vindicated them and He has not changed. Folks don't you realize "God got this?" It's painful, it's a reproach on the church and in particular the "Black Church", the scars are deep for the victims, the pain for the all families involved is unthinkable; but at the end of the day this happened for a reason and God is the vindicator for ALL!

First, we do not know the nature of the discussion between Bishop and his wife. As a wife and mother, I know that if my husband had been accused of the acts with these young men who were teens and who were under the influence that Eddie was a male role model and protector, I would surely spend many long hours in discussion with him about the veracity of the allegations. I would also be privy to his extensive travel arrangements, his habits and patterns. As a partner for 20 years, I think she would be able to detect indications of deceit upon questioning. Women know their men.

Secondly, if Vanessa had suspicions about his behavior, I am sure she would have been under the scrutiny of Eddie's handlers and may have been intimidated about the consequences of anything she may have been inclined to do and perhaps threatened about loss of anything she had been accustomed to. The report that she filed for divorce and in a few hours decided she would retract the filing and shortly afterwards and asserted she would not go thru the divorce probably illustrates the pressure she has been subjected to as a consequence of her actions. News reports indicate that after notification of her action to divorce was reported, her intentions where subsequently contradicted by New Birth officials. This does not prove that she was the author of such claims to retract divorce proceedings, but rather, that the "officials from New Birth rendered that statement, perhaps as a power-play to further intimidate her and prove that whatever they said had more power to confuse the masses in their favor,were designed as a power-play to put her in check. Vanessa did not capitulate and went forward with her plan in spite of that. By virtue of the fact all of this was done, Vanessa went on record to say that she planned to follow through with the divorce. She is not backing down and I applaud her for her courage to follow through in spite of that kind of intimidation.

Furthermore, it is reprehensible that members of the church do not give credence to the fact that these young men are not telling the truth.As a young woman, I was approached by the minister of my church, did not submit and did not tell my parents of his attempts out of fear that my dad would take matters into his own hands. Ministers, pastors, bishops, teachers or others who have access and power over adolescents are human and are subject to the same demented, perverse, demonic pressure we all are faced with. Being attracted to an adolescent does not give me the right to exercise and act upon my deviant drives, even when I do not consciously acknowledge those perverse drives reside within me..Some fail to live up the moral provisions incumbent upon us to live up to the moral warrant to do no harm.

Shame on the congregants of the church who, for some unknown reason, refuse to give even lip service to the probability that Bishop Long has deviant issues which can not be addressed until he confesses, first to the true and living God, and then to the people he has offended and abused. What does Vanessa know and how is she attempting to extricate herself from the legal and financial devastation she will inherit simply because she is his wife. But more importantly, understand that she has found her strength and integrity to no longer be an enabler.

Whether bishop never admitted to these allegations or not is besides the point, The bishop was the captain of a gigantic ship, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, and the steward of many people's lives who climbed on board. Therefore, given his position, it was incumbent that he not engage in the type of reckless conduct that could and would invoke the remarks made by Caesar regarding the conduct of his spouse, Whereas he stated upon his reason for divorce "Caesar's wife must be above reproach". Thus, it mattered not that his wife had committed a reckless act it mattered only that she was perceived to have acted in a reckless manner that made her appear she had committed reckless acts that tarnished the integrity of the empirical throne. That, unfortunately, is the denigration that bishop has brought upon the integrity of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

his wife must divorce him cos she is setting herself for more deception, lies and betrayal. Long must step down from the pulpit and be ministered to. he has a serious pervous problem. the congregation who do nothing about it and donot bring this man to accountability is just as guilty by being complicint to this wicked deed. the congregation is setting themselves for decline if they donot demand this man to step down, cos then this perverse spirit will attach itself to all the generations of the members there. also there will be no spiritual growth, no, no financial prosperity in the church members lives and homes bcos just like thunder and lightening starts from the top, so does the downfall of the church followers. bcareful all of U who go to that church will have holes in ur pockets cos ur money is going to flow out and get lost. make the stand, be bold and demand accountability, damand truth and honesty and righteous living for a holy God. tell Long to wear his sexuality on a leash and keep it under control. the evidence has been substantiated, cos his accussers produced the compromising photos that long sent them. no argument here, the photos sealed his fate. where are the watchman of the churh. WAKEUP and erect a concrete guardpost around ur lives if url want 2b in leadership.

to Lorraine, U hav taken the scripture of he who is with out sin cast the first stone, and totally distorted it thereby making it easier 4 christians to go and sin. U need to delve deep into the biblical truths of this particular verse and stop this abomination of coverin it all under the blood and being dismissive of the atrocious insidious evil deed that Long is guilty of violating.

First of all Bishop Eddie Long never admitted to these allegations. A person is innocent until proven guilty. We the body of Christ had better wake up to the tricks, and traps of the enemy. Satan will use as many people as possible to get his point across. Four or five, fifteen or twenty it doesn't matter, too many people feel that if more than one or two people come forth it must be the truth. God is the judge not man and the Lord Jesus said he desires mercy not judgement. The body of Christ must pray and allow God to be God.

Excuse Me??? Mr. Marvin Smith; The Bible tells us that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:22; and it also tells us in the book of John 8:37 "He that is without sin cast the first stone." Now let us not over look where the Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:10 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Can you say its a war going on of the worst kind; and not to mention there is no big sin nor little sin in God's eye its all sin of the Worst kind!!! I'm just curious as to what was going on with these Young Men??? you know @ the age of 16 on up even before like 10 yrs old you are definitely aware of your sexuality Male or female and your fully aware of the birds and the bees; you know that its not natural for a man and a man to engage in sexual anything why why why in Gods name would someone in high school or college be privy to such and act?? Let us ask ourselves What was really going on??? We as the people of God have to remember what the word says in Galations 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Not excusing the sin of any kind but let us restore such an one with the spirit of meekness...and by the way let me ask a question: Do you confess openly to your church everytime you commit a sin big or little or??? and ask for forgiveness??? I totally agree.

Eddie should first follow the scripture and go before the people and admit his sin (molestation), then go to God for forgiveness, not worrying about what people think. That's the biblical way to handle it.

He should not return to the pulpit until he has gone through counseling to be restored by church leaders, overseer, and mentor.
