Atlanta’s largest one-day barbecue cooking competition and festival that attracts fans from Atlanta and the Southeast to enjoy the art of barbecue, great food, live entertainment and an interactive kids’ area. More than 50 professional and backyard barbecue teams from across the region will compete in the Atlanta BBQ Festival in a variety of individual cooking categories.
The organizer of this event is Decatur resident Bob Herndon, who established the Atlanta BBQ Club.
The event will be Saturday, Oct. 2, noon – 8 p.m. at the Atlantic Station special event site located at 20th Street and Fowler. The festival’s music stage will offer up some of the city’s top performers throughout the day. Performers will include the Mosier Brothers Band, Swamp Funk Quartet, JK & the Lost Boys, Sandra Hall & the Shadows and Luther Houserocker Johnson & the Shadows.
Restaurants participating in this year’s festival include BBQ Masters, Fox Brothers BBQ, JD’s BBQ, Jim N Nicks, Shane’s Rib Shack, Williamson Brothers BBQ, Hunter’s Pride and more. Opportunities still exist for additional restaurants to participate.
Admission is $6 in advance or $10 the day of show. Kids 12 and younger will be admitted free.
